This book/CD-ROM package offers a collection of full-sized reproducible classroom worksheets and activities, plus information sheets for students and for learning mentors, staff, parents, and others working with young people ages 10-16. Resources are grouped in 15 chapters on areas such as emotions, self-esteem, friendship, bullying, self-harm, school refusal, and Internet safety. Most of the worksheets and activities presented in the book are based on a combination of the following therapeutic approaches: motivational interviewing, solution-focused brief therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy. An introduction provides a brief summary of each of these approaches, and a bibliography points to more detailed sources on them. The beginning of each chapter reviews basic concepts and issues related to a specific problem area and outlines ideas for games and activities with students in groups and in one-on-one sessions. Many of the reproducibles can be used in settings beyond the school, such as youth offending teams, family support teams, children's residential homes, youth inclusion projects, and youth services. The CD-ROM contains all reproducibles from the book.
