NSW: Bob Carr welcoms McKinnon's application for top cop job
Premier BOB CARR has welcomed the application of former Olympic security chief PAULMCKINNON for the top job of New South Wales police commissioner.
However, he's made it clear that acting commissioner KEN MORONEY is still his favouritefor the position.
The job became vacant last week when British import PETER RYAN left the post almosttwo years before his contract was due to expire.
Mr CARR says there's an application process which has to be observed, but he's stronglyindicated he and Police Minister MICHAEL COSTA have a lot of confidence in Mr MORONEY.
Mr CARR says a permanent police chief will be installed by July 1.
